Hullo again! I'm back from being a delinquent blogger with another Top 10 Tuesday. This one is going to be HARD, and one of those things I'll be kicking myself for once I start blog-hopping to see what others have put on their lists. So here we go!
A weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish
1. Elizabeth Bennet, Pride and Prejudice
In every incarnation of this tale, I loved Elizabeth. She's feisty, opinionated, and unafraid to make them known. But at the same time, she will willingly admit when she's in the wrong, and work towards making amends. I loved that about her- envy it sometimes, actually.
2. Anne Shirley, Anne of Green Gables
Mouthy, opinionated, imaginative Anne. I couldn't help loving her when I first met her at the age of 12, and I still love her to this day. Speaking of, have you seen her around YouTube?
3. Holly Short, Artemis Fowl
Holly is another favourite I've retained from my teen years. She's sarcastic, brilliant, does not suffer fools easily, but there's a softness to her that I appreciate seeing.
4. Hazel Grace Lancaster, The Fault in Our Stars
Reading about Hazel felt personal in a lot of ways. Not that I've ever had cancer, but I have the same tendency to isolate myself. So I understood her in a way that I didn't connect with other all-around-town-hanging-with-friends characters. And seeing her shatter still hurts so much.
5. Hermione Granger, Harry Potter
Often the smartest in whatever group she found herself in, I loved Hermione since she was a mouthy kid, unafraid to show that she was smarter than you, and I loved her all in between as she grew into a strong woman, unfaraid of showing her intelligence and completely unapologetic that she knew so much.
6. Ellamara, Cinder & Ella
Here's another girl unashamed of who she is. Well, at least she's trying to be (kind of hard when half your body is covered in third degree burns and you use a cane).
But the main reasons I love Ella are because she gives Cinder no end of trouble (which he deserves) and because this is how she responded to a bully:

7 -8. Trisana Chandler and Lady Sandrilene fa Toren, Circle of Magic
These two are brilliantly done. Tris has been handed around among her relatives, her weather magic being mistaken for an evil spirit. Sandry is a recently-made orphan, and has only just discovered her thread magic. Both of these girls are thrown into a world they never would have imagined, and they both handle it in such different ways. I love Sandry's determination to create a family for herself, and Tris' determination to have no part of it (guess who won). I love Tris' wit, and every time Sandry says that she really must insist (hint: the or else is frighteningly simple).
9. Alianne Cooper, Trickster's Choice
Aly is a teenage spy and brilliant at it, and that's all I have to say. Words cannot describe her sass, her brilliant handling of a revolution, and the way she completely makes a nation fall apart and just sits there smugly waiting for her fellow rebels to realise it was all her doing. She even shocked the trickster of all tricksters, Kyprioth.
10. Melinda Sordino, Speak
Deciding on #10 led me to scrolling through my goodreads page, trying to find the one girl worthy of being included on this list. And Melinda is it. Facing so much pain, running from it for so long, tying it all up inside until she was afraid to let one word out- yeah. Loved her. Loved here so much that I will still shove her story into anyone's hands with an order to READ. THIS. BOOK.
